XGIMI AURA 4K, What’s Up With Short Throw Projectors Nowadays?

It’s Been A While Since We Took A Look

For a time, projectors and their associated projection surfaces experienced a renaissance in the market.  Ryan and Sebastian both purchased systems for their homes, and many other sites put up numerous reviews of a variety of short throw projectors.  They did tend to be a bit more expensive than a TV, but also took up far less space and you could choose your screen size, more or less.  They seem to have fallen out of favour since then, as we haven’t seen all that many reviews recently.

Neoseeker has changed this with their new review of XGIMI’s AURA 4K short throw laser projector, which can project an 80″ diagonal picture from a mere 4.3″ from the wall, up to 150″ at 17.3″ or slide it right up against the wall for a 36″ screen.  That is before you add in the optical zoom feature which lets you resize the screen as you like; within reason.  The projector also sports two pairs of 15W Harman Kardon speakers, two tweeters and two woofers, with DTS Studio Sound, DTS-HD, Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Plus support.

It will run you $2800 or so, but if you want a projector with decent sound, support for HDR10, MEMC, X-VUE 2.0 image engine, and even an Android TV app then the XGIMI AURA 4K is worth a look.
