AMD Ryzen 7 5700X Versus The Ryzen 5 5600

The Processors Haven’t Changed But The Price Has

You’ve seen many a review of AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X and Ryzen 5 5600 since they were released, however Kitguru wanted to revisit them to see how their price to performance compares with Intel’s newer chips.  The Ryzen 7 5700X has 8 cores and 16 threads running at a base clock of 3.4GHz, while the Ryzen 5 5600 has 6 cores and 12 threads with a base clock of 3.5GHz; both processors feature 32MB of L3 cache, with the Ryzen 7 having slightly more L1 and L2 cache.

Today on Amazon, the Ryzen 7 5700X runs you $250 while the Ryzen 5 5600 is $160 and unlike the Ryzen 7 it ships with AMD’s Wraith Stealth Cooler. While Kitguru included numerous processors, there are two somewhat similarly priced Intel offerings to focus on, the Core i5-12400F and Core i5-12600K.  One thing that complicates the math are that the two Intel offerings require B660 motherboards which tend to be noticeably more expensive than a B550 motherboard.

Check out the results to see which chips make more sense in a budget build.
